As part of my fellowship with the Freedom of the Press Foundation, we're experimenting with new approaches to addressing issues in digital security education. One of these is that a lot of documentation tends to get outdated really fast (https://twitter.com/mshelton/status/809182687282036738). So, I'm helping organize a series of Editathons, where we meet as a group to update existing online documentarion that's open to being updated by us. Our first event is happening in NYC on July 16th in partnership with Riseup and METRO: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/freedom-of-the-press-foundation-and-riseupnet-digital-security-editathon-tickets-35791600641.
If you're in NYC, it'd be great if you could RSVP and participate! If you're not in NYC, we'd love to collect any feedback on the documentation as it exists now so we can find all the pain points we need to address: https://riseup.net/security.
BONUS: If you happen to find yourself in the Dutch countryside on August 8th, I'll be co-hosting an Editathon at SHA as well: https://program.sha2017.org/events/291.html.
